Parks and reserves

Ngaio has several excellent parks and reserves. See our Ngaio walking tracks page for detailed information on walks in the parks and reserves.

  • Trelissick Park. Stretching from Crofton Downs railway station east through the Ngaio Gorge, Trelissick Park includes picnic areas and several sites of historic interest. It is maintained with the assistance of the Trelissick Park Group.
  • Cummings Park is on Ottawa Road. It is grassed and flat, and features a children’s playground, a stream, seating, a sculpture, and an off-the-lead dog exercise area.
  • Orleans-Makererua Reserve is between Makererua St (off Heke St) and Orleans St. It includes native trees which pre-date the suburb, and are survivors of the native bush which originally covered the area.
  • Huntleigh Park includes a reserve and adjoining bush area. Access is from alongside 29 Huntleigh Park Way or from behind the Playcentre in Silverstream Road, Crofton Downs.
  • Otari Wilton’s Bush is in Wilton, off Churchill Drive, Wilton Road, or John Witton Drive. It is dedicated to indigenous plants and includes open spaces and picnic areas.

Off the lead dog exercise areas
