<p>How well do you know your neighbours?</p>
<p>Wellington City Council wants us to live in safe communities where we know our neighbours and are ready to help when things  go wrong.</p>
<p>Last year the Council set up a  Community Preparedness Grant for projects and events such as neighbourhood barbeques to help us get to know each other better.</p>
<p>The next funding round closes on 30 March 2012.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.wellington.govt.nz/services/grants/profiles/commprep.html">Wellington City Council has information on its website on how to apply</a> and what the funding criteria are.</p>
<p>Ngaio Progressive Association can help local residents with applications.</p>
