Our past president Viv Chapple went to WREMO’s earthquake preparedness meeting on 10 September in Khandallah Hall. She arrived a bit late and discovered them all sitting in the near dark with just a lantern for light. It certainly added atmosphere.
The message was – if an earthquake strikes, we are on our own. Look after yourselves, your neighbours, and your street.
So, store water, medication, notepaper and pens, food and large amounts of CASH. Time magazine recommended around $500 after the Californian quakes a few years ago. Have two gas bottles for your barbeque since getting refills could be tricky. And keep a couple of good sized tarpaulins to hand. Get through? You betcha.
